Only men are invited to our regular practices. The reason for this is: sometimes, men need a place where they can bodylock another man, throw him to the ground, mount him, and smash his face in. Some men, especially married men, feel more comfortable doing this kind of training in a men-only group. Like gyms that are only for women, a men-only space is sometimes a desirable environment.
Now days, there are few places that men can go to find such an environment. Because we are a private, non-public group, we have a rare opportunity to provide this setting.
We live in a time when a practice such as this can be easily misunderstood. For clarity’s sake consider the following.
- We are devoted to educating, sharing, and spreading this art to anyone interested. This policy only applies to our regular practice.
- In no way, is our choice to keep our practice geared towards men a comment about women.
- We make no statements or generalizations about women whatsoever.
There are many different focuses a historical martial arts group could choose. We are seeking to study historical violent combat (fully including up-close grappling). I’ll be frank, I get other people’s sweat all over me during these practices. Every time we train, I get new bruises on my body. As I write this, (although not a serious injury) one of us was cut and bleeding during last night’s practice. This kind of environment is certainly not for everyone, and it is also not an activity we are comfortable doing with anyone.
Consider that some men do not want to train to hit women, especially in a highly realistic environment. Some men do not want to desensitize and normalize that behavior.
Thank you for giving us an opportunity to be correctly understood and represented.
